Marek Piaček & Ľubo Burgr – two composers and performers with a lot of experience with composed and improvised music decided to use their laptops for creating music. The first performance of Pink Big Pig (PBP) was on the Next Festival in December 2005 in Bratislava.

The musical experience of both PBP members includes 15 years performing in many ensembles and groups – Ali Ibn Rachid, Vapori del Cuore, Požoň Sentimental, VENI ensemble, Dogma, don@u.com, SonDrian. They performed improvised music with musicians like Nick Collins, David Dramm, Hilary Jeffrey, Ann LaBerge, Beth Griffith, Jean-Marc Montera, Günter Müller, Chris Newmann, John Oswald, Otomo Yoshihide, Jon Rose, Miki Skuta, Daan Vandevalle, Marián Varga, Elliot Sharp, Alfred Zimmerlin, and others.

Burgr was active in 1991–2000 in one of the Slovak most famous independent contemporary theatres STOKA as musician and actor, in 2000 he co-founded the Association for Contemporary Opera, today known also as The SkRAT Theatre, where he produced many plays and performances.

Piaček also collaborated with STOKA Theatre as actor (1999–2000) and with Association of Contemporary Opera also as a composer. Therefore their musical activity in Pink Big Pig ensemble is deeply influenced by their theatrical activities, too.

In the field of electroaccoustic music Pink Big Pig handles with the sound material in the same way as the ensemble Požoň Sentimental does with the different structures in the field of classical music (from artificial music events to banal pop elements…).

Ľubo Burgr plays violin, guitar, recycles and generates sound material on his laptop. Marek Piaček plays flute and piccolo and recycles his own flute playing in real time and uses different classical music events for accompaniment.

Marek Piaček a Ľubo Burgr, dvaja skladatelia a interpreti s dlhoročnou skúsenosťou s komponovanou a improvizovanou hudbou sa rozhodli použiť pre vytváranie hudby svoje laptopy. Prvé vystúpenie Pink Big Pig bolo na festivale NEXT v Bratislave v decembri 2005.

Hudobné skúsenosti oboch členov PBP zahŕňajú pätnásť rokov aktívneho účinkovania s rôznymi súbormi a skupinami – o. i. Ali Ibn Rachid, Vapori del Cuore, Požoň sentimentál, VENI ensemble, Dogma, don@u.com, SonDrian. Improvizovanú hudbu hrali v projektoch s hudobníkmi ako napr. Nick Collins, David Dramm, Hilary Jeffrey, Ann LaBerge, Beth Griffith, Jean-Marc Montera, Günter Müller, Chris Newmann, John Oswald, Otomo Yoshihide, Jon Rose, Elliot Sharp, Miki Skuta, Daan Vandevalle, Marián Varga, Alfred Zimmerlin.

Hudobné aktivity súboru Pink Big Pig sú veľmi ovplyvnené aj divadelnou minulosťou jeho členov. Burgr pôsobil v rokoch 1991–2000 ako hudobník a herec v divadle STOKA, v jednom z najznámejších nezávislých súčasných divadiel na Slovensku. V roku 2000 založil združenie Pre súčasnú operu, dnes známe aj pod menom Divadlo SkRAT. V ňom vytvoril mnohé predstavenia a performancie. Aj Piaček pôsobil krátky čas v divadle STOKA ako herec a hudobník (1999–2000) a so združením Pre súčasnú operu pôsobí aj ako skladateľ.

Na poli elektroakusitckej hudby pracuje Pink Big Pig so zvukovým materiálom podobne ako súbor Požoň sentimentál na poli hudby klasickej (využíva a recykluje zvukové prvky v rozpätí od artificiálnej hudby až po najbanálnejšie popové postupy).

Ľubo Burgr hrá na husliach, gitaru, recykluje a generuje zvukový materiál pomocou svojho laptopu. Marek Piaček hrá na flaute a pikole, recykluje v reálnom čase nahrávané štruktúry a používa rôzne prvky klasickej hudby ako sprievod.
