The play consists of the three stories of a sick chase: a man pursuing a woman, a woman pursuing a man and an elite sociopathic psychopath in pursuit of an unsuspecting ordinary man. The motifs of the chase are different. However, the common feature of all motivic lines is the absurdity that evokes the situations escalating into more absurdity in moments when you do not know whether to laugh or cry.
STORY:
The play is performed as a reconstruction of three different stories, within which the essence and the development of the pursuit becomes more and more complex. The company SkRAT uses all means necessary to portray this. Detective horror elements blend with hints of absurd cabaret, farce as well as black and white operetta. While in the first story we can rather easily distinguish the stalker from the victim, in the two remaining stories the situation becomes entwined. The society—indifferent to the victim’s call for help at the beginning—gradually becomes the stalker itself, not realizing that it is being coldly manipulated by someone, who pursues his or her own interests; or perhaps the panic around a suddenly designated and observed phenomenon is being taken advantage of by someone in order to square his or her accounts.
STRUCTURE AND MOTIFS:
1st story
A primitive stalker, a mechanical and possessive sense of love, indifferent and cynical community, two women incarnating one character of the same story, while the second woman is only a fictitious idea that couldn’t be fulfilled due to the tragic past.
2nd story
A primitive stalker obsessed with a woman “of his heart”, unpleasant but essentially harmless and comical; all until a cryptic psychopath, who uses psychiatric medication and the tragicomic escapades of the primitive stalker as a warm-up, appears on stage. Perhaps it gives him a perverted pleasure. Perhaps he does so for his personal revenge or some “higher interests”. Or perhaps he tries to investigate whether it is possible to influence a society in such a way that, it starts to approve of and even make absurd judgments against itself.
3rd story
A definitive confirmation of the fact that pursuing—or rather stalking—is not only a problem of a girl wearing a miniskirt or going braless, but that this long underestimated—and precisely because of that even more dangerous—problem can truly catch up to anyone of us… him… her… you… surely you… and even you…

Inspired by the hitherto unclarified case of the strange death by double agent, priest Coufal in 1981, the authors of the latest production at the SkRAT Theatre are studying the mechanisms which enabled, within the secret police ŠtB, the building up of a parallel power structure and mutual checking of individual members of staff including colleagues at all levels of this organisation. Mechanisms which could be functional even after the dissolution of the ŠtB.
The death of the secretly ordained priest Rev. Ing. Přemysl Coufal is one of the most serious unclarified cases of the Slovak judiciary. It has many levels: it combines a personal tragedy, struggle for human honesty and purgation of one’s name and it is also an example of unprecedented practices by the Czechoslovak ŠtB. It also demonstrates the failure of the judiciary system of the past regime as well as that following 1989. Last but not least, it demonstrates the power the former top members of the secret police have had in Slovakia until today.
The ŠtB interfered into Přemysl Coufal’s life several times. In the 1960’s, having obtained the information about his activities in the underground church, it managed to win him over for its services for several years to provide information about the economic illegal practices of his company. Later he used numerous foreign business trips for establishing contacts and exchange of information and material with the exile and foreign church representatives. In 1979 he was identified as a courier to be forced to collaborate with the ŠtB, which he refused. On 24 February 1981 he was found dead in his flat showing traces of a brutal murder. The case was concluded by the investigation authorities of the day as a suicide. Neither the investigation of 1990, after which the case had been put aside, reached any other conclusion. By the 1992 court decree all the documents related to the case were locked in the archive safe of the SR with the date of release corresponding to the negative prescription (limitation of time beyond which the possible criminal acts related to the case are no longer enforceable). The time limit is still running.
There have been several unsuccessful initiatives to purge the name of Přemysl Coufal, which neither his parents lived to see, especially trying to achieve the annulment of the official investigation conclusion version classifying it as a suicide. In connection with Coufal’s case the disappearance of the journalist Marcel Samuhel is also talked about who had informed about the case in the early 1990’s – at a time when several journalists writing about serious issues disappeared in Slovakia. The personal story of Přemysl Coufal opens many ethical issues – at a time when ethics is considered an empty word and helplessness against non-transparent power mechanisms is cured by cynicism – it is a demonstration of responsibility for the sound functioning of society carried not only by brave individuals but mainly the legislative and judiciary bodies. It also shows how far reaching consequences complicated political decisions can have, such as, for example, “the broad line” after the past which Czechoslovak politicians had done following 1989. On the one hand, it was a gesture of moral noble-mindedness and period-conditioned optimism by the political elite of the day, on the other one, it showed its deadly romanticism and political ignorance the fatal consequences of which we are suffering until today.
In the production The Inside of the Inside the authors, Ľubomír Burgr and Dušan Vicen, are covering several stages of the ŠtB operation. The grotesque analysis of “evaluations” that the members of ŠtB at all levels were writing on themselves offers an opportunity to look into the mechanisms of building up a parallel power structure within the ŠtB thus enabling mutual inspection of individual members of staff and collaborators at all levels of this organisation, mechanisms that might be operational even after the dissolvement of the ŠtB. Another important motif in the production is the story of the ups and downs of prominent party officials, such as Zdeněk Mlynář, author of the thrilling book Frost comes from Kremlin. Thanks to this we can look into the unrestrained inside of power which, unless harnessed by law or morality, can engulf everything around it, including itself, as in the archetypal picture where the devouring starts from the tail. In their production Burgr and Vicen are dealing with stories affected by the ŠtB in recent past but also significant issues which resulted from its activities following the fall of the totalitarian regime. What is of key importance, then, is the investigation of our coming to terms with the heritage of the totalitarian past.

Characters and events in this inscenation are fictional. However, any similarity to real characters and events will most probably not be accidental.
The staging uses certain citations, as follows:
The text Before the Law comes from Franz Kafka´s novel The Trial. Jozef K. is the main character of this novel.
Smerdyakov is a character from F. M. Dostoyevsky´s novel The Brothers Karamazov.
The tune Adagio in G Minor was used as a theme tune in the film The Trial, directed by Orson Welles.
Quote “We live in a country, where the public authority is not comprehended as a temporary service, but as swag.” As in blog of Radoslav Procházka.
Quote “In a trial with an asshole, only another asshole can be your solicitor.” As in MUDr. Xavier Crement’s book Asshole No More!
The play is loosely inspired by the famous novel by Franz Kafka The Trial (Kafka's original German title: Der Process). This black humorous tessellation of stories and fates, consisting of a few more or less intersecting episodes is however set in the present times, the times of jurisdictional absurdum of the beginning of 21st century, when the process of one absurd social establishment alternates the other…

Actors of the SkRAT theatre shatter the myth of people being divided into hunters and pickers. Images, acts, scenic and textual collages passionately defend a new terminology and a new view on old things, while at the same time they disprove themselves, polemize with themselves, devoure themselves in the search for an answer to the main question of today: Who are buggers? Who are suckers?

‘It is a reconstruction of an extraordinary board meeting 8/7/2006’. Stories of people who lived here, who are still living here and who will probably live here. Their life stories intervene with a banal but even more appalling reconstruction of some meeting, which (of course) deals with problems, but never solves anything. Men running away from their homes, women coming back to places of flooded villages. Deer hunting, but also everything which is still alive and able to feel complement a Christmas sequence of two board members. ‘Sadly, the author of this never-ending story is life itself’.

A cynically poetical parable from the life of one hotel room is also a poetically cynical narration about everything what should have happened but from various reasons didn’t. The play is set in the place where people of various faces, sexes and social and other statuses meet for one and only reason – to please themselves.
A series of sketches, which portray people at intimate and delicate situations, in which they easily become vulnerable; they cannot defend themselves and act impulsively…
The play takes place in a soulless, anonymous hotel room, where couples meet to satisfy their sexual needs. In the play, sex is not taken as an end in itself, but as a means of uncovering the truth about the characters, who find themselves in situations they are not prepared for, and in which they accidentally reveal the unpleasant facts about their lives which they normally mask and which they are often unable to admit even to themselves.
The title of this show paraphrases a cryptic statement by Ľubo Burgr, discovered on one of the walls of the A4 - Zero Space…

Music and directed by Ľubo Burgr
Guinea pig is an ideal symbol of something which has to be fed. In return this piece of absurd life will spin endlessly in the wheel, reminding a happy owner his own movement in the vicious circle. Shall we love it, just for the sake of treating it nicely? Or kill it? Who emotionally blackmails whom? The part, which gave the name to the whole theatrical collage, is dominated by an irreproducible, blue sweatpants wearing Burgr’s man without future. There’s no need to let the cat out of the bag to enjoy him when the right time comes in the play.
